Yarn Christmas Crafts.

We've had this yarn laying around the house and we finally put it to good use!
Here are some fun and easy DIY Christmas crafts!

We love our Chai! It makes a great
drum for our cute winter scene!

Cut small pieces of yarn while wrapping the wreath...it will help make the job easier and feel less tedious!

Our candle is made from felt and a toilet paper roll.

Yarn balls. Enough said.

Smells of the Season.

The smell of cloves and cinnamon mean the holidays are here!

Making a stove top potpourri mix is a quick inexpensive way to make your home smell seasonably appropriate!

Put all the ingredients in a saucepan and fill with water.
Place on a low setting burner and enjoy!
Don't let the water completely evaporate.
One mix stays good for a few weeks!

This will also make a perfect homemade gift!
Have fun with the packaging and don't forget to include the instructions!

Kale and blue cheese rolled flank steak. YUM!

You gotta make this!
It's sooooo good!

We went to our awesome local butcher and asked him to butterfly and pound the crap out of the flank steak...much easier than doing it at home!

Everything was done quickly and done to taste!

  • Mix together kale, blue cheese, minced garlic, worcetershire sauce, salt and pepper.
  • Lay out the flank steak in front of you with the grain of the meat running from left to right.
  • Spread it all over the steak leaving a 1 inch boarder around the edge.
  • Roll the steak up away from you (be careful not to squeeze out the filling)!
  • Tie it up with kitchen twine and bake at 350 degrees until the meat reaches 145 degrees.
  • Let the meat rest before cutting and enjoy!
  • Make sandwiches the next night with your leftovers...soooo good!

Please sir, I want some more...

Halloween in Alaska?

We had an odd Halloween last year.
We were on the road with Fiddler and spent mid October in Alaska and Halloween in Canada!
Take a look.
"It's a me...Mario!"

Zombie Prom (Judy) Garland!

Our favorite most dramatic Halloween decoration is our Zombie Prom Garland!
Right around the corner from our apartment is this cute little fabric store.
We found some different textured black and gray fabric for only a dollar a yard!
We cut the fabric into many uneven pieces and tied them around a long rope...ripping and shredding it to make it look as shaggy and decrepit as we could!

Spooktacular BOOkshelf Makeover!

Meatloaf takes a while to cook.
It didn't take much time to give our bookshelf a quick fun Halloween makeover.
We threw the meatloaf in the oven and got to work!

To make the bookshelf more Halloweenie, we replaced our pictures with construction paper and Halloween cards.

It's super easy and can be used for any season!

Aren't these awesome?!

Meatloaf's ready! Yummmm!!!

Mazel Tov Pumpkin Spice Elf.

We both have the day off today, YAY! But this might be the last day we have off together for awhile, BOO! Andrew will be working on a production of Fiddler on the Roof while Dennis will be heading out on the road with the National Tour of ELF.

We're spending the day chillin' enjoying each others company...
and since it's International Coffee Day, we decided to make Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

We looked at a whole bunch of different online recipes and just made it our own!
It's pretty simple but needs a lot of different ingredients.

We mixed up 2 parts water and 1 part pumpkin puree then added some cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and sugar. We let it simmer on the stove for a few minutes, then strained it to make the pumpkin syrup.

Make a latte and add the syrup!

Sorry we can't be more precise with our measurements but we don't have any measuring spoons yet! Opps! Just keep adding pinches until you like the way it tastes.

We like a lot of spice and a lot of sweet!

Potions and lotions.

Well, there aren't reeaaally any lotions, but that's what we've been calling these.
These spooky bottles are super easy, super fun and look great!

We asked Dennis' Mom to start saving jars of all shapes and sizes...while we've been saving our Trader Joe's wine bottles. We combined left over wall paint from the apartment to make ugly colors and sloppily painted our bottles and jars.

Dennis found labels online and printed them off at work.
We made these look old and worn by tea dying, tearing and crumpling the paper.

We further distressed the bottles with a Brillo sponge and repeated the whole process until we got the decrepit look we wanted.  Mwwahaha!

Add dry ice and candles for a spooky effect...just don't set the house on fire!

Other than all the booze...this was pretty much free and made from what was laying around the apartment!

Simple, cheap and effective!
Happy Brewing!

Eek! A mouse!

Halloween decorations!
Simple, cheap and effective! 3 things we love!

"Hey, what's in the bag?!?"
"Just passing through..."

"You got the stuff bro?"

"Help! I'm stuck!"
"No one will ever find me here!"

Mice Silhouettes from our girl Martha Stewart bought at Michael's.

It's hoodie weather!

It's starting to get colder out which means...our favorite holidays are coming!!!!
We just combined some of our old holiday knick-knacks and are starting to put them out!
