Smells of the Season.

Happy Chinese New Year!
Making a quick stovetop potpourri to fill our apartment with luck and fortune!

Put orange peels and ginger in a saucepan and fill with water.
Place on a low setting burner and enjoy!
Don't let the water completely evaporate, keep refilling.

Stays good for about a week. We throw ours in the fridge when we aren't using it.

Happy year of the Sheep!

Long Distance Iced Tea!

As most of you know, Dennis is away till June.  We are both pretty used to the on and off distance, but it still sucks.

This is a spin on a traditional Long Island Iced Tea, it's damn tasty and strong enough to survive a Valentine's day alone!

This drink is tart, sweet and strong!!

1/2 ounce gin
1/2 ounce vodka
1/2 ounce rum

1 ounce cherry juice
1 once pomegranate juice
1 ounce pineapple juice
1 ounce club soda/any clear soda would work
Big squeeze of lemon
Lemon peel

Pour everything into an ice filled shaker and shake that lonely aggression out!  Strain into a glass filled with ice and garnish with a lemon peel.

 Cheers, lovers!

Perfect pomegranate pretzel bark!

This tasty treat made us feel the LOVE!
Pops of sweet, salty and hints of bitterness.

-Dark chocolate
-Pomegranate seeds
-Pretzels
-Salt

First we double broiled the chocolate.
Spread it out on a parchment lined baking sheet.
We added the pretzels first then the pomegranate seeds...next time we will push the seeds in a bit more, some popped out when we broke up the bark.  No big deal.

Then we sprinkled on some salt and put it in the fridge for about 30 min.

After it was chilled we broke it up and devoured it!
It will last about 4-5 days in the fridge...but it was gone by the end of the day so we didn't have to worry about that.

A sweet treat for a sweetie.
