Mazel Tov Pumpkin Spice Elf.

We both have the day off today, YAY! But this might be the last day we have off together for awhile, BOO! Andrew will be working on a production of Fiddler on the Roof while Dennis will be heading out on the road with the National Tour of ELF.

We're spending the day chillin' enjoying each others company...
and since it's International Coffee Day, we decided to make Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

We looked at a whole bunch of different online recipes and just made it our own!
It's pretty simple but needs a lot of different ingredients.

We mixed up 2 parts water and 1 part pumpkin puree then added some cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and sugar. We let it simmer on the stove for a few minutes, then strained it to make the pumpkin syrup.

Make a latte and add the syrup!

Sorry we can't be more precise with our measurements but we don't have any measuring spoons yet! Opps! Just keep adding pinches until you like the way it tastes.

We like a lot of spice and a lot of sweet!

Potions and lotions.

Well, there aren't reeaaally any lotions, but that's what we've been calling these.
These spooky bottles are super easy, super fun and look great!

We asked Dennis' Mom to start saving jars of all shapes and sizes...while we've been saving our Trader Joe's wine bottles. We combined left over wall paint from the apartment to make ugly colors and sloppily painted our bottles and jars.

Dennis found labels online and printed them off at work.
We made these look old and worn by tea dying, tearing and crumpling the paper.

We further distressed the bottles with a Brillo sponge and repeated the whole process until we got the decrepit look we wanted.  Mwwahaha!

Add dry ice and candles for a spooky effect...just don't set the house on fire!

Other than all the booze...this was pretty much free and made from what was laying around the apartment!

Simple, cheap and effective!

Eek! A mouse!

Halloween decorations!
Simple, cheap and effective! 3 things we love!

"Hey, what's in the bag?!?"
"Just passing through..."

"You got the stuff bro?"

"Help! I'm stuck!"
"No one will ever find me here!"

Mice Silhouettes from our girl Martha Stewart bought at Michael's.

It's hoodie weather!

It's starting to get colder out which means...our favorite holidays are coming!!!!
We just combined some of our old holiday knick-knacks and are starting to put them out!

Fabric and bookshelves and chalkboards, OH MY!

Ikea photo shoot.

Found a bookshelf that we liked.
To make it look less Ikea-ish and one of a kind, we picked out some fabric and tacked it to the back panel.

Ahoy there matey!
The fabric and bookshelf were both from Ikea, so it was a quick and cheap makeover!

We love it. Argggg.

Andrew had a painted chalkboard wall in his old apartment
and never shuts up about it!

Andrew's old painted chalkboard wall that he never shuts up about.
So naturally, we had to have one in our apartment.
We couldn't find the right wall for it, so we chose one of our closet doors!

A work in progress.

Thrift store finds on Lawn Guyland!

The Pug was for Aly.

Although these nightstands are different styles, painting them the same color made them cohesive.

Still a work in progress...hoping to complete the room soon, dressers and all!
Whomp, whomp...

This room will be the death of us.

A whale of a time!

Our bathroom.
Small but charming.

Andrew made this for under $5.00!

We have never felt more manly than when we caulked the bathroom tub. BEEF!
It made a world of difference though!

What's cookin' good lookin'?!?!

Things we LOVE about our kitchen:
  • our retro sink.
  • our butcher block counter top from Ikea.
  • our painted windowsill.
  • our randomly new cute little stove.

Things we HATE about our kitchen:
  • the size, it's too damn small!
  • the round fluorescent light that takes 30 seconds to turn on.

Rather than having to paint a whole wall, we chose a quick pop of color on the windowsill. Glidden's Sugared Lime.

The bear den.

This is the living room, we call it the bear den. Ggggrrrrrr!
One thing we loved about this apartment was the detailed molding. We knew we wanted to highlight them by adding some color but we didn't know how much of a pain in the ass it would be.

The original plan was to paint the entire wall but we were just too lazy! We changed our plan, even though Andrew already painted outside the lines...it's nothing a couch can't cover up, right?! Of course right!
We're really happy the way it turned out.

Hopefully one day, we'll be able to afford cable.
