It's gonna be a Happy New Year!

We can't believe this year went by so fast!
Of course, we have to start the New Year with a DIY project...we're ringing in 2017 with these glittery vinyl candles.

We colored our vinyl numbers with a gold Sharpie then added gold glitter using spray adhesive and stuck our numbers on the candles!

The year of glitter and gold!

5...4...3...

Open Sesame!
Happy New Year!

The Christmas rush is through.

But still we have one wish to make, our apartment tour for you.

The logs on the fire fill us with desire to see you and to say...
Merry Christmas, darling.

Boxing in a Winter Wonderland.

We're crafting up to the last minute!

We made this mini shoe box diorama using an old iphone box.

Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?

Now craft away! Craft away all!

Merry Axe-mas!

We had the amazing opportunity to attend Blue Point Brewing Company's Logger Lager Lumberjack Festival in October.
We were decked out in full lumberjack attire including axes that we found at the dollar store.
The axes were plastic and cheap looking so we painted them to give them a more realistic look.

We loved them so much, we knew we needed to use them in our Christmas decor...and who doesn't love an upcycled craft?

Some ribbon and sprigs did the trick!

When lumberjacks and Christmas unite!

I'm yelling timber to all and to all a good night!

You would even say it glows.

Oh deer, we are in love with this little nightlight we made!

Here are the materials we used:

We cut a hole in the back of a mini cardboard shadowbox we found at Michaels to fit our nightlight and then got crafty!

 A little glue, paint...

...and lots of glitter!

It's the perfect addition to our reindeer room!

All is calm, all is bright.

Vintage Card Wreath!

We love these vintage style cards!
Every year we try to decorate with them.

This year we made a kitschy little vintage-y wreath!

We used an old wreath frame that we already had.
To add a little dimension, we used corks to make some of the cards pop.

And of course, a vintage wreath wouldn't be complete without a little tinsel garland.

Here are a couple of ways we used these cards in Christmas' past:

  1. Cards & Ribbon.
  2. Cards & Yarn.

Greetings cards have all be sent...

Dear Santa, We've been uncommonly good!

It's the most wonderful time of the year...and the most stressful!  It feels like just yesterday we were struggling to find Christmas gifts for our family and friends.  The struggle is real.

It's hard to find something that you hope someone will actually want. This year we smartened up and are doing our Christmas shopping on Uncommongoods.com!

Uncommon goods sells unique on-trend products, but they're more than just a site with great stuff! They tell the story behind each of the products and the artists who make them! You can read up and get to know the artists, where the products were made and see what else the artists have come up with.
As makers ourselves, that's something we can appreciate!
You're not just buying a product with Uncommon Goods, you're buying one of a kind artistry and helping those artists make a living!

Here are some of our top favorites that we will be gifting and are hoping might be gifts for ourselves...Mom are you reading this?? Hint! Hint! Hint!

Isn't this handmade unicorn mug made by JoAnn just the cutest thing?? Two please!!

And this owl is so cute! With or without glasses.

We love all these hosting gifts!
They are perfect for gifting....or just to keep ourselves. :)

Finally a classy way to eat pistachios.

Bloody Mary glasses with the recipe on the glasses! These will come in handy after a few rounds.

Porter IPA beer jelly sounds aaaamazing. Our mouths are watering. Must have beer jelly!

You can find more gifts for men, here.

You will be sucked into an Uncommon Goods rabbit hole, in the best way possible. With hundreds of awesome products and their back stories, it's hard not to spend hours browsing. However, their site layout makes online shopping even easier by thoughtfully categorizing all of their products. So stay on track and tackle that Christmas list!

Happy holiday shopping!

Then you should've put a napkin ring on it!

Remember those easy paper candle wraps we made?!
Now, they're napkin rings for the Thanksgiving table!

We made these paper wraps last year out of seasonally appropriate card stock and a Sharpie...and now we're repurposing them!

We used toilet paper rolls to keep them sturdy and cut them in half and glued on our paper.

It's a DIY crafty Thanksgiving!

Festive Flourish!

It's the holiday season! Time to add festive flair anywhere we can!

Drink tree toppers!

We cut off the tip of the skewer with a wire cutter to fit our glasses.
Drilled a small hole into the tree base to fit on top of the cut side of the skewer and glued it down with a bit of craft glue.
If you don't have a drill, a little hot glue will do just fine.
We wanted to add a little gold on the skewers to match the base of the trees.
A sharpie did the tick! We wrapped a small piece of washi to get a nice clean line.

These would make a great gift!

Drinking around the Christmas tree...

Herb it up!

We cook a lot throughout the year, but when it starts getting chilly out we end up cooking the most. With the stove on a constant simmer our apartment starts accumulating the smells of past meals.
We're using left over herbs to make smudge sticks!

Smudge sticks have been used by healers for thousands of years to purify stagnent energy. But they can also be used to bring some of the outside in.
Our apartment went from smelling like a kitchen to a small campfire.

Use cotton string to tie bushels of fresh herbs.
We used thyme, sage and rosemary.

Air dry the bushels for about a week, we hung ours to quicken the process.

Light 'em up, up, up, I'm on fire!

Happy smudging!

Festive little door knob charm!

We're bringing the outside in again with all things fall!

Acorns and pinecones and leaves...oh my!

Adding a little bling to our door by tying these fall goodies to some twine!

It's so charming!

This should hold us over till it's time for Christmas decorations.
