Post-it Eggs!

We can't believe Easter snuck up on us so quickly!
We are decorating eggs with very little mess or skill involved!

Post-it eggs!!! We used the sticky strip of the Post-it note, scissors, a hole punch and got creative!

Didn't they turn out eggcellent? Yak yak yak.

Or should we say "yoke yoke yoke"?

A tisket, a tasket.

While trying to get some Easter inspiration, Andrew whipped out this adorable paper basket!

It's made with paper strips, glue and a little bit of love!

We're gonna use it as a candle holder or for some Easter chocolate goodies!

A tisket, a tasket...a modern paper basket!

Chick in a Jar.

We can't believe Easter is here already.
We've been slacking...maybe it's because it doesn't feel like Spring yet.
Here's a quick little Easter jar using things we had around the apartment!

We've had these Quasimodo looking chicks for a while and decided to pair them with some dyed rice and glittery eggs for a cute little Easter scene.

Here's how to dye rice!

(To the tune of D*ck in a Box.)
It's a Chick in a Jar.

Pop Bunny Portraits!

Easter is hard holiday to decorate for!
You always run the fine line between Easter and a child's nursery.

We found these awesome rabbit portraits online and knew we had to use them.
We printed and cut them out!

Then added a little Easter pop with neon paper!

We're so HOPPY about our new vintage bunnies!

When will my reflection show, who I am inside?

Easter Egg Fortunes!

These little buggers are time consuming, but ridiculously cute!

We started by hollowing out our eggs.
We poked a hole on the top and bottom and blew out the egg...made a great scramble!
We wanted to add a little surprise on the inside with a pop of color.
To do that, we used a dropper with food coloring and a bit of vinegar and prayed it would work.
Some food coloring got on the outside shell, but we cleaned it with a q-tip and bleach.

We let our eggs dry overnight, printed and cut our fortunes so they were ready to be stuffed in the morning.
Rolled those babies up and stuck them inside.

We weren't expecting the insides to come out as spotted as they did, but we love it!

No, seriously.
Go peep yourself.

Eco-friendly Easter grass.

We completely forgot we had a paper shredder and put it to good use on an old magazine.
Our eggs needed a home!

Grassy ass!

Little Bunny Foo Foo Easter Globe.

Little bunny Foo Foo, hopping through some sprinkles!

We upcycled a tiny mustard jar, painted the lid and in went Little Bunny Foo Foo.

Cha-cha-cha chia eggs.

Egg shells, chia seeds, soil, water and love.

Originally we wanted to make these with grass...we started saving our eggshells and got the potting soil, but we couldn't find small packets of grass seeds. Whomp whomp.
A week later while making a smoothie, we realized we had a ton of chia seeds right in front of us!!!!
Bye bye grass; hello free chia seeds!

In each egg we put a couple of spoonfuls of soil in with a hearty pinch of chia seeds.
We gave them lots of sunlight and kept the soil moist...yea baby.
It took about 3 days to start seeing sprouts.

Dennis thinks they look like dinosaur eggs! Roar!

Andrew thinks they make the perfect Easter addition!

Dinosaurs or bunnies?
Egg-cellent question.

Almond Italian Easter Cookies

This recipe was handed down from a close family friend.
They taste like Easter!

Almond Italian Easter Cookies

6 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 sticks butter melted and cooled
1 oz. almond extract (or any flavor you like)
4 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
6 tsp. baking powder

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Lightly grease a large cookie sheet.

In a large bowl mix eggs, sugar, melted butter and extract.
In a separate bowl mix flower and baking powder.
Gradually mix dry ingredients to the egg mixture. (If it feels too sticky, add a little more flour.)

Take a spoonful at a time, roll in a ball and place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes.

To make the confectionary frosting:
Add a little bit of milk to confectionary sugar (you want it rather thick.)  Add a few drops of almond extract and food coloring of your choice.  Dip into frosting upside down and put on rack to dry!

Warning: These cookies are addicting.
...can't say we didn't warn ya!
